“Nay, nay, sasakay po ba kayo?” I was in the Philippines for my summer vacation. I was visiting my grandson by then. The statement that the dispatcher asked me meant ”Ma’am, ma’am, are you going to ride?” Well, the truth is, for the Filipinos, when you call someone Nanay, it would actually mean “old lady”. And that would be me, I guess? Now, I don’t really care ‘cause I am a grandmother anyway; but I was just 49 years old at that and I was already being referred to as “Nanay”. I had a problem, and that was my wrinkles. At a very young age, I started aging, I could see a few lines here and there when I was just 36 years old. By that time, I believed it was normal and that I was going to live with it for the rest of my life. BUT, here comes wrinkle reduction techniques. I had my way out and I was finally going for the gold.
Wrinkle reduction, a common problem between both men and women my age. So here are some choices I have researched so that reducing wrinkles could get easier. From the most expensive to the cheapest ones, and from the medical team down to your own natural way, here is my list:
- In the market nowadays, the most costly treatment would be the facelift. A treatment that one gets in order to tighten the underlying facial tissues. This is done to tighten the facial muscles to achieve a younger look.
- Next in line, we have what we call, wrinkle reducing creams, these creams are all piled up in a row. We have so many brands that are already out and are about to come out. The downside of this, is that you would have to choose which cream would suit your face best. Sometimes, you would have to endure the side-effects of some creams that might not be appropriate for your skin type.
- Last but not the least, the easiest and cheapest way to reduce wrinkles would be the natural way. Go natural! Fruits, vegetables and a few do’s and don’ts. DO: hydrate! Our body is composed of 60% water. Therefore, water will revitalize our skin. DON’T: expose yourself to midday sun without the help of sunblock, it will only dry up your flesh. DO: eat fresh fruits and vegetables, these foods have high amount of Vitamin C that contribute to the production of collagen, an important protein that aids in the thickening and elasticity of the skin. DON’T: smoke. Cigarettes have more than 4,000 chemicals that break down collagen and elastin, the fibers responsible for the tightening of facial muscles.
Now, guys and gals, wrinkle reduction is pretty much at the tip of your fingers, you just have to choose wisely. Follow the guidelines and end up getting youthful skin. At the end of the day, it would be your decision that matters. I’m hoping that during my next visit to different countries, people won’t end up calling me “nanay” or “old lady”, may these wrinkle reducing tips/techniques help all of us in the journey of staying young while getting old.
